Why the lighting industry needs a deterministic control protocol

Most wireless lighting control today runs on protocols designed for the home: best-effort mesh networks that tolerate dropped packets and variable latency because, in a living room, nobody notices.

Industrial and infrastructure environments are different. When a control command must arrive within a bounded time — every time — best-effort delivery becomes a liability. Density makes it worse: as node counts climb, consumer mesh contention compounds and latency becomes unpredictable.

Deterministic control is not a luxury feature; it is the precondition for treating lighting and power as programmable infrastructure. That conviction is why MBNtech engineered its protocol stack from the spectrum up rather than adapting a consumer standard.
